A National Committee will advise and guide the programmes and activities of the Centre. An International Committee will advise, guide and assist with the programmes and activities at international level – within South Asia and other countries. The Centre’s programmes and activities will be administered by a Management Board comprising of the Director of the Centre and nominees of the NIE and the Trust, and such other members as may be required from time to time. All members of the Committees and the Management board will function in purely honorary capacity until the Centre has acquired adequate resources.
The National Institute of Ecology (NIE)
Founded in 1978 by Prof. R. Misra and Prof. G.S. Puri, National Institute of Ecology (NIE) is the premier interdisciplinary professional association in India in the field of ecology and environmental sciences. It was founded in pursuance of a resolution adopted at the All-India Symposium on Teaching of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, held at Jaipur (Rajasthan) during December 1976. The NIE is a Non-political, Non-governmental, and Non-profit making Organization, registered under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act at Jaipur (No. 495/80-81).
The NIE is also registered under sections 12A and 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act and the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) at no. 231660512 (Educational). Thus, donations made to the NIE are eligible for exemptions as permissible under the Income Tax Act. Further, the NIE is eligible to receive directly funds from international organisations and funding agencies for its educational activities.
The NIE endeavours to promote all fields of ecology and environmental science through interactions between researchers from diverse disciplines of Biology, Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Fisheries, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Marine Sciences, Public Health, Anthropology and Social Sciences, Statistics and Mathematics, and Environmental Engineering.
The NIE has currently more than 600 members drawn from every State and Union Territory of India as well as several other countries. The membership includes Fellows who are elected by the NIE every year in recognition of their significant contributions to their chosen field of ecology/ environmental science.

Pragya Education and Environment Trust
The Pragya Education and Environment Trust was established in Jaipur in 2008. The main objects of the Trust are to (a) undertake education, training and research in all areas of human endeavour, (b) conserve and restore environment, and (c) promote human health. The trust is registered under the Rajasthan Public Trusts Act 1959 at No. 68 Jaipur 2008, and also under Sections 12A and 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act.
